Top-end reassembly completed except for the oil line which can't be reinstalled until the generator bracket issue is fixed.

The generator bracket had cracked and was welded. They don't last long when done this way.

Instead a good used replated one will be installed.

One reason they crack - the generator locating pin fell out, allowing the generator to flop around. You can see where the engine case has worn an indentation into the generator from this as well.

Bracket ready to go on.

Bolts replaced with hardened studs

New locating pin made and secured with Loctite

The engine case is worn too and the result is the generator doesn't sit into the "cradle" like it's supposed to - there's quite a gap.

The fix is to make a shim to fill the space

The shim fits onto the pin...

...and fills the gap, holding the generator firmly against the engine once again.

Good used rubber terminal boots replace the rotted away originals

While the gernator bracket was off, a new oil pressure sender switch was installed.
